Chin Surgery

Chin augmentation is a simple dependable procedure that is often considered in combination

with other facial procedures particularly those seeking facial harmony with the nose or neck. Implants are made from various artificial materials and Dr McRae usually recommends medpore implants.

The implant is usually placed from under the chin and the scar hides and eventually disappears very well. Placing an implant through the mouth is not a great idea due to the presence of bacteria and higher risk of infection.

An implant will only increase the prominence of the chin. It will not correct a chin that is too long or too short nor a chin that is asymmetric. In these situations Dr McRae can cut and move the bone to the correct position. This procedure requires general anesthesia but it is still an outpatient procedure.

Your own fat is another important tool in chin and jaw line sculpting. When a subtle amount of augmentation is all that is needed fat can be a very good choice.
