A breast lift restores the breast to a more aesthetically pleasing shape by removing excess skin and tightening the surrounding tissue and breast parenchyma. A breast lift can reposition, reshape and reduce the size of the areola.
Factor such as age, genetics, pregnancy, weight loss/fluctuations, breastfeeding are all factors that contribute to sagging, flattening, and descent of the breasts.
A breast lift will help restore your breasts, bringing back a more youthful profile. Patients planning on future or continued weight loss would be advised to wait until they are close to their ideal weight before pursing surgery to ensure your best overall surgical outcome.
An aesthetic procedure like a breast lift is a procedure personalized and tailored to your needs. In order for us to assist you in achieving your ideal results, patients need to be doing it for themselves and have realistic expectations.
If you are looking to restore lost volume in the breast, particularly in the upper pole of your breast, a breast lift alone will not be able to achieve this goal on its own. Mastopexy can be combined with breast augmentation to help achieve this result. Sometimes augmentation is best with an implant. Using your own breast tissue, or transferring fat from other locations to the breast can also be an excellent option.
Are you considering a mastopexy? Unsure if you are a candidate? Here are a few qualities Dr. McRae looks for in his patients…
Physically healthy and maintaining a stable weight
Realistic expectations
Non-smoker
Not satisfied with your breast appearance such as:
Sagging / loss of shape
Tubular/elongated
Enlarged areolas
Asymmetry with breasts and/or nipples
Nipples point downward and/or sit below breast crease
